OAKVILLE - Martin J. Christopher Jr., age 79 of Oakville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Waterbury Hospital after an extended illness. He was the husband of Marcia (Barbieri) Christopher.
Martin was born on February 3, 1939 in Waterbury, the son of the late Martin J. Sr. and Mary (Marotta) Christopher. He attended Watertown High School and worked for many years as the asphalt plant Manager for Tilcon/Tomasso Inc. Martin was a member of the Watertown Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was known for his kindness and friendly spirit. He was considered everyone's best friend. What was most important to Martin, was "family" and spending time with his children and grandchildren He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. .
Besides his wife, Martin leaves his children: Marcy and his wife, Laurie Christopher of Terryville and Susanne Ercoli and her husband, Philip of Watertown as well as his grandchildren; Jasmine, Amber and Olivia and step grandchildren Samantha, Brianna and Jennifer and great grandson, Anthony. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Domenic Christopher. Martin's family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Anamika Katoch, nurses; Terry McSherry and Holly Bemonte for the care and love they shared with Martin and his family throughout his illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Christopher will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St. Oakville Ct. Entombment will follow in the Mt Olivet Mausoleum.
