AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, WATERBURY -
Wolcott - Mr. Martin Karl Schaaf, age 78, died at home on Thursday, April 26, 2012. He was the husband of Patricia (Pryor) Schaaf.

Marty was born in Waterbury on March 7th 1934, the son of the late Karl F. and Klara (Kroeniger) Schaaf. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Saratoga during the Korean War. Marty worked as a Tool & Die Maker at Airpax of Cheshire for 46 years before his retirement in 1999. While working at Airpax he participated in several leagues and activities with the company including their softball, bowling and golf leagues. After his retirement, he continued to enjoy golfing with his friends at Farmingbury Hills. Marty was a longtime member of the Eagles Club in Torrington. His hobbies included maintaining his manicured lawn and garden and cooking, especially his unforgettable "award-winning" chili.

Besides his devoted wife Pat of 43 years, Marty is survived by his son, Carl and his wife Liliana and their son Michael of Waterbury; his daughter, Susan Vidal, and her husband Jonathan and their son Ryan of Prospect; his sister, Edith Sherman of New Milford; his nephews, Bill Sherman and his wife Debbie of Cheshire; Dave Sherman and his wife Patty of Naugatuck; Paul Sherman of Andover Kansas and Chuck Sherman and his wife Susan of Naugatuck; his nieces Maude Chasse and her husband Ray of Woodbury; and Clare Zimmitti and her husband Erik of New Milford. He is also survived by several grandnieces, grandnephews, and his very dear friend, Sean Harmon of Bristol.

Funeral services for Mr. Schaaf will be held on Monday April 30, 2012 at 11:00am at the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main Street Waterbury CT. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 till 5:00pm.
