THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF MARY ANN VELEZ
WATERBURY- Mary Ann Velez age 61 of Waterbury passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of her family at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit at Saint Mary's Hospital on Wednesday February 7th 2018. She was the wife of David Velez.
Mary Ann was born March 4, 1956 in Waterbury, CT the daughter of the late Thomas and Genoveva Rodriguez. She was a graduate of Wilby High School and spent several years working as a para professional for the City of Waterbury School system working in various schools throughout the Waterbury area, most recently at Hopeville Elementary School. Mary Ann was a devout catholic and a former member of Saint Cecilia's Church and was a catechism teacher at Saint Cecilia and Sacred Heart Church's. She enjoyed taking trips to the casino and shopping but was always happiest while surrounded by her family especially while hosting her great dinner parties that would bring the family together in her unique and unsurpassed ways.
Besides her husband David of 41 Years Mary Ann leaves her sons Robert of New Haven, Marco and Manuel of Waterbury as well as her sisters Antionia Ferruci and her husband Dominic, Lillian Velez and her husband, Edward, Dolores Rodriguez, Genevieve Santiago and her husband, Raul, Jose Rodriguez, Geraldo Rodriguez and his wife, Daianna, Manuel Rodriguez and his wife, Glenda "Becky", Carlos Juan Rodriguez, Tom Rodriguez and his wife, Margarita in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren. She is predeceased by her Brother Francisco and Robert, her sister Miriam Aurora and her sister in law Maria Rodriguez
The Velez family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Vitas Hospice for the loving care and support they provided to Mary Ann and her family during her illness.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Velez will be held on Thursday February 15th 2018 at Saint Anne's Church S. Main St Waterbury when a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00am . Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery Waterbury. There are no calling hours.
