MARY L. (DiMARIA) PATERNOSTER
WATERTOWN- Mary L. (DiMaria) Paternoster, age 89, of Bunker Hill Road Ext. died Monday evening at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Joseph N. Paternoster Sr. who died in July of 1992.
Mary was born in Waterbury on November 28, 1918 the daughter of the late Pasquale D. and Grace (Racalbuto) Di Maria. She attended local schools and was a hairdresser for many years, both in her own shop in Oakville and then from her home. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 7330. She was a loving mother and grandmother who always put her family ahead of herself. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville.
Mary is survived by two sons, Joseph N. Paternoster Jr and his fiancée, Valarie Palmerie of Watertown and Nicholas J. Paternoster and his wife, Nancy also of Watertown and a daughter, Mrs. Annmarie Verner and her husband Richard Sr. of Cheshire. She also leaves a brother, Vincent DiMaria of Oakville, 4 grandchildren, Steven Paternoster, Richard Verner Jr, Mary Verner and David Verner as well as one great grandson Lucas Verner. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Paternoster will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 10:00am from the O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME, 742 Main St. Oakville CT to St. Mary Magdalen Church, Buckingham St Oakville for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 8:30 till 10:00am. Memorial donations in Mrs. Paternoster's memory may be made to the VNA Health at Home, 27 Siemon Company Dr. Watertown CT.
