WATERBURY - Mary H. Pilch, age 77 of Plantsville CT, formerly of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Marys Hospital after a brief illness.
Mary was born on May 23, 1943 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Samuel H. Pilch Sr and Mary R. (Kenney) Pilch. She was educated in local schools and earned her Bachelor's degree from Central CT State (Teachers) College and her Masters Degree in Special Education from Vanderbilt University. She spent more than 35 years teaching special and challenged children in the Region 16 (Prospect-Beacon Falls) School System. Even after Mary retired from formal teaching, she would always volunteer her services to any family that needed guidance. Mary made many long lasting friendships with her students and families and any time she was in Prospect would always run into someone she taught in school. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Pilch Jr (Zenia) of Long Grove IL, Michael Pilch (Yolanda) of Buffalo Grove IL and Edward Pilch (Zetta) of New London IA. She was predeceased by her brother, John Pilch. The family gratefully acknowledges her friends, Elaine, Bonnie and Nancy as well as Dr Kert Sabbath, Masoud Azodi, Leslie Coopersmith, Kuang-Wen Tsao, Jesse Chua-Reyes and the Vitas staff for their outstanding care and compassion.
