Mrs. Mary Whitney

WATERBURY - Mary Whitney, age 95, of Waterbury, passed away on Friday, January 19th, 2024. She was the widow of David Whitney.


Mary was born January 14th, 1929, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Michael and Helen Ferris. She was a graduate of Crosby High School and spent many years working in the banking industry for several area banks, including Colonial Bank, The Banking Center, and Ion bank until her retirement fifteen years ago at the age of 80. Mary enjoyed spending time at the Cheshire Senior Center and was an active parishioner of Saint Francis Xavier Church. What brought the greatest joy to Mary however, was spending time with her family, who were everything to her. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.


Left to honor her memory and cherish her legacy are her daughter, Terry Whitney of Waterbury, her grandchildren, David and Elizabeth Whitney, as well as her great-grandchildren, David and Emani Whitney and Penelope Martinez. She was predeceased by her sisters; Kathleen Shanahan and Julie Proulx as well as her twin granddaughters, Tyla and Rebecca Whitney and great-grandson Eon Whitney.


Funeral services for Mrs. Whitney will be held on Thursday January 25, 2024 at 10:30a.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St Waterbury to St. Francis Xavier Church 625 Baldwin St Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Old Saint Joseph’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Mary’s family on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the procession leaves for Church at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
