Ms. Marylou Curtin

October 15, 1947 — September 9, 2023

Founder and Director, Toddler Town Daycare

It is with profound sadness and a great sense of loss that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, aunt and great aunt, Marylou Curtin, age 75, of Waterbury. She passed on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital following a brief illness.

Marylou was born on October 15, 1947, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Thomas F and Louise (Hill) Curtin. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School. She worked for several local businesses in Waterbury as an Human Resources professional including St. Marys Hospital and North American Bank. Since 2002, she was the owner and director of Toddler Town which she founded and was the most impressive and special accomplishment of her life where she literally touched the lives of hundreds of children over the years. Her parents instilled in their children that “giving back to their community” was the right thing to do. In the late 1990’s, Marylou ran an impressive campaign for Mayor of the City of Waterbury. Marylou was truly one of a kind and was admired and loved beyond measure by her family and friends.

Marylou was the glue that kept the Curtin family together. She was the matriarch of the Curtin family and her favorite times were when they were all together which was very often. As an aunt and great aunt she never missed a birthday or holiday. A longtime parishioner of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, she had a deep and special devotion to the Virgin Mary and Padre Pio. Our family thanks you, Marylou, for every prayer you said for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for thousands of hugs you shared with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us. Marylou will be deeply missed but her warmth, kindness, generosity will be forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Among her survivors are her brother, Thomas F. (Gina) Curtin, Jr. and their children; Tom III, Kevin and Pat of Trumbull, Michael W. Curtin of Waterbury, her sisters, Polly Curtin and her children, Bridget Perry (Sean) and their children, Ceara and Teagan; Joseph (Lori) Goertz and their children; Rian and Jude; and Lonnie Goertz. Brother-in-law Charles Beaudoin and their children Hank, Mike and Danny. Betsy's children Heather Lane (Matt) and their daughter, Abby, Missy Martin (Dave) and their children, Steven, Anna and Amelia; and Billy (Carol) Martino and their children; Lizzie, Frankie, Mac and Will, Peggy Fogarty (Kevin) and their children Lauren Lafferty (Gary) and their children Ava and Julia, Sean (Emily) and their children, Molly and Conor, Erin Beltran (Jorge) and Meghan (her fiancé, Josh).
