WATERBURY - Matilda "Mille" (Rosa) Martin, age 80 of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, January 13, 2017. She was the devoted wife of John "Jack" Martin.

Matilda was born on October 12, 1936 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Carl and Josephine (Zappone) Rosa. She was a graduate of Wilby High School and after raising her daughter, worked for more than 20 years at the Hallmark Store in the Naugatuck Valley Mall. Afterwards, she worked at Railroad Salvage in the Colonial Plaza. Matilda was an avid reader, enjoyed shopping and visiting local restaurants. She was always intent on keeping an immaculate house but most importantly she was happiest when in the company of her family. Matilda will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her husband Jack of 53 years, she leaves to cherish her memory: her loving daughter, Lisa Martin and her longtime companion, Joseph Flammia of Waterbury, her niece and nephew who were like siblings to her; Jeane Sottosanto of Waterbury and Donald Odoardo of Prospect, several other nieces, nephews and cousins in addition to her cherished companion and pet: Missy". Matilda was predeceased by her sisters; Jane L. Blais and Mary Odoardo and brothers, Fred and Ernest Rosa.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Martin will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Home, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd., Waterbury. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. To honor Matilda's memory, donations may be made to the Waterbury Lions Club, PO Box 749, Waterbury CT 06702.
