WATERBURY - Mrs. Matilde Sanchez Machado, age 91 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after an extended illness. She was the widow of Felix Machado.
Matilde was born April 19th 1924 in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Martina Rodriguez and Federico Sanchez. She was a long time, dedicated parishioner of Sacred Heart - Sagrado Corazon Church in Waterbury and enjoyed dancing, music and traveling to Puerto Rico to visit family. Matilde was always happiest while spending time at family gatherings being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Among her survivors are her children; Carmen, Juanita, Matilde, Rosa, Milagros, Luis, Demetrio, Yohnny, Santos Machado, and Charlie Rosado. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren in addition to her sister, Maria A. Rodriguez. She is predeceased by four children; Fabian, Felix, Hector, and Raul Machado.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sanchez Machado will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 9:00am from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St. @Southmayd Rd. Waterbury to Sacred Heart - Sagrado Corazon Church Wolcott St when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Spring lake Rd Waterbury. Relatives and Friends of Matilde may visit with her family on Sunday afternoon, November 22nd from 3:00 ~ 5:00pm at the funeral home.
