WATERBURY – It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Matthew J.
Morrissey, age 62 of Waterbury, announce his unexpected passing on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at St
Mary’s Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Theresa (Guerreiro) Morrissey for almost 3o years.
Mr. Morrissey was born on December 28, 1961 in Waterbury, the son of the late William and Anita
(Sullivan) Morrissey. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Crosby High School.
Matthew was a machinist at Truelove and McLean for over 30 years and also worked at ITW in
Waterbury. He recently retired to spend more time with his family. He was a Miami Dolphins fan
who also enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking and his cat Sally. What was most important to him
though was his family, especially his son, grandchildren, wife, brothers and sisters. He will be
greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his wife Theresa; his son, Michael Morrissey;
Michael’s longtime girlfriend Jamie Markie and their two daughters Layla and Lula Markie of
Waterbury; and his siblings Raymond Morrissey of Waterbury, Gerard Morrissey of FL and
Doreen Morrissey of NC. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, William Morrissey, and sisters; Jan Brown and Anita Oskandy.
Funeral services for Mr. Morrissey will be held on Thursday April 25. 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s
Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St. Waterbury CT. Burial
will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Matthew’s family
on Wednesday evening, April 24, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Loving kindness is
