"RETIRED WATERBURY HOSPITAL NURSE"
OAKVILLE- Maureen "Binky" Drodvillo, age 79, of Oakville CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16th 2020 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary's Hospital, due to complications from the COVID-19 Virus.
Maureen was born May 28th 1940 in Waterbury, CT the daughter of the late Joseph and Phyllis (Swelfer) Drodvillo. Binky was known for her strong spirit and infectious smile. She was a graduate of Watertown High School and received her nursing degree from Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing in 1961. After graduating, Maureen moved to Florida where she worked at Venice Hospital before moving back to Oakville and she returned to work at Waterbury Hospital as an RN until her retirement, a career lasting over 40 years. Maureen passion was caring for others and she was always the first one there to help anyone who needed care, even after retirement. She was happiest in her garden and enjoyed tending to her flowers. She was a member of the Watertown Garden Club and also donated time to ACTS 4.
Left to remember, cherish and honor Maureen's love and legacy are her son, Steven Clark and his wife, Dana and two grandsons; Steven and Devin Clark of Oakville as well as her brothers Robert Drodvillo and his wife, Carol of Niantic, CT and Kenny Drodvillo of Miami, FL. Maureen also leaves behind a niece, Debra Drodvillo of New York. Maureen was pre-deceased by her brother, Richard Drodvillo and niece, Donna Drodvillo Pannone of Oakville, CT. She also leave behind many other nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Village of East Farms, St. Mary's Hospital and the Vitas Unit where they made her last days comfortable. They also want to thank all of her dear friends that visited her on a regular basis.
Due to the current COVID-19 limitations, there will be a private graveside service held in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown at the convenience of her family. There are no callings hours however a Mass of Christian Burial will be announced at a later date. The O'Neill Funeral Home has been honored to care for the Drodvillo family.
