"Namesake for Melissa's Project"
WATERBURY - Melissa Erin Bellagamba, age 44, was surrounded by her friends and family when she passed away peacefully at home, on May 3rd 2021 from breast cancer.
Melissa was born on December 14, 1976 in Norwalk, CT daughter of Robyn Redwine and the late Steven Bellagamba. Much of Melissa's time was enjoyed listening and connecting with others through music, as well as with animals. Throughout high school, Melissa received many achievements on the Watertown swim team and set records during her time there. Melissa had a sweet heart and spent her life sharing it with others. Her blunt honesty was refreshing for the people surrounding her, and brought us closer to her. Although Melissa struggled with mental illness from the early age of 18, she never let that stop her and was always ready to have a good time.
Melissa represents the many people and families who may be trapped in the system with no idea of what to do next. Melissa became the namesake for Melissa's Project, which was created to educate and spread awareness on illness severity when conservation is needed. It shares ideas and goals to promote positive lifestyles, and provide necessary help to families and clients.
Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Robyn, her brother, Brian and his wife Carey and their children; Olivia and Julianna, sister, Cara and her children; Emma and William. She has also left behind her beloved cat Rudy, and her longtime boyfriend, Carl Reed.
Graveside funeral services for Melissa will be held on Tuesday May 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.at Mt Olivet Cemetery, Platt Rd Watertown. In lieu of flowers, we would like all donations to Melissa's Project at http://guardian-ct.org/donate/ .
