TERRYVILLE - Michael Robert "Bob" McGuire, age 75, of Terryville, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Pines of Bristol surrounded by his devoted family after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Rosemarie (Berube) McGuire.
Bob was born October 7,1938 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late John and Helen (Kasputis) McGuire. He was raised in Prospect and was a graduate of Crosby High School, Class of 1957 and was a member of the Crosby baseball team. Prior to his retirement in 1996, Bob worked as an sales engineer at Airpax for 35 years. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed rooting for the New York Giants, New York Mets and the UCONN Men's and Women's Basketball teams. After retirement, Bob enjoyed taking many trips and cruises with his beloved wife Rosemarie of 49 years. They especially enjoyed camping in Prospect Lake, MA and their annual family Baltimore summer vacations. He also enjoyed spending time at "My Place Café" with his friends where he would play setback and poker but was always happiest while spending time with his grandchildren. He would lovingly attend all their events and made each of them feel special and loved.
Bob's family would like to thank the Pines at Bristol and Vitas Innovative Hospice Care for the compassionate, professional care they provided to Bob during his illness.
Besides his wife, Rosemarie; Bob is survived by his two daughters, Michelle Steck and her husband Gary of Bristol and Kathleen Lambertson and her husband Joseph of West Hartford He also leaves his brothers Jack McGuire of Milford, James McGuire of Baltimore, Roger McGuire of Wolcott, David McGuire of Baltimore as well as his grandchildren Michael, Emily, Grace, & Jacob Steck.
Funeral services for Mr. McGuire will be held on Saturday, February 8,2014 at 9:00a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd. Waterbury when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Those planning to attend are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in New St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Bob's family on Friday evening from 5:00 till 7:00pm at EASTSIDE MEMORIAL " A Casey Family Funeral Home 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT.
