AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - OAKVILLE ?" Mr. Michael Carusillo Jr. age 83, of Bowers St. Watertown formerly of Norway St. Oakville, died Sunday evening at Waterbury Hospital. He was the widower of Helen P. (Dowling) Carusillo, his wife of over 50 years before her passing in 2006.
Michael was born August 13, 1925 in Waterbury, a son of the late Michael and Angelina (Iavagnilia) Carosella and lived in Oakville since 1955. He was educated in Waterbury schools. Prior to his retirement in 1989, he was employed at Anaconda in Waterbury where he worked for over 35 years. Michael was an avid golfer who enjoyed traveling, camping, the New York Yankees, UCONN basketball, and playing cards, especially with Rosie and Babe. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII, and was a member of the VFW Post 7330. Michael was a communicant of Saint Mary Magdalen Church.
He leaves two sons Michael C. Carusillo and his wife Tina of Huntersville, NC., Mark Carusillo and his wife Amy of Thomaston, three daughters Joyce Walker and her husband Barry of Watertown, Nancy Jones and her husband Clifford of Watertown, Anne DeMartino and her husband Vincent of Watertown, a brother Louis Carosella of Waterbury, three sisters Dora Cutrali, Rose Diogostine, and Jennie Marino all of Waterbury, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters Lena Mancini and Antoinette Sarandrea.
Funeral Thursday at 10 a.m. from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street to Saint Mary Magdalen Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 9:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J.
