Devoted, husband, father, grandfather and brother
WATERBURY – Mr. Michael Thomas Dunn, age 62, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, April 27, 2023. He was the devoted husband of Gina (DiNicola) Dunn.
Michael was born on July 30, 1960, in Southington CT, the son of Marilyn (Dilger) Dunn and the late Joseph G. Dunn of Wolcott. He graduated from Wolcott High School and worked in the construction trade for many years as a member of the local Labor Union. Michael had a huge heart and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was an avid Boston RedSox and NY Giants fan. He loved life, always joking, laughing and was the life of the party, but most especially he was devoted to his family. Michael made the world a better place for all of us, and we are all blessed and thankful to have had him in our lives. Michael’s wife, children, grandchildren, and brothers and sisters thank him for every prayer he uttered for us, for the many sacrifices he made for us, for the thousands of hugs he shared with us, and for the unending love he instilled in all of us.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory along with his wife, Gina, are his children; Jeanie Dunn, Q.C. (Stephawna) Cruz, Michael J. Dunn (Guadalupe Aquino) Taylor Dunn and Samantha Simpson. Michael and Gina were blessed with three grandchildren: Ashley, Kaylee and Michael J. Dunn Jr. (M.J.) He also leaves his 10 siblings; Kathy (Art) Decelles, Karen (Jack) Hamel, Joseph (Laurie) Dunn, Mayor Thomas (Lisa) Dunn, Kelly Dunn, Stephen (Christine) Dunn, Kris Dunn, Darlene (Brian) Tynan, Doreen Dunn, Chief Kyle (Angelika) Dunn all of Wolcott. He leaves his mother-in-law, Jerri DiNicola, sister-n-law, Laura DiNicola, many aunts, uncles and several nieces and nephews. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his father-in-law, James “Cheech” DiNicola. The list of survivors would not be complete without mentioning his constant companion and fur baby, Ollie.
