WATERBURY - Mr. Michael Fafard, age 77, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at Saint Mary's Hospital on June 10th 2019 after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Marie Rita (Nadeau) Fafard.
Michael was born August 19th 1941 in Shawinigan P.Q. Canada the son of the late Robert and Paulette (Darchen) Fafard. He emigrated to the United States in 1964 setting in the Waterbury area. Michael spent many years working for Sherwood Medical Industries and more recently was working as a MRW1 at the Southbury Training School until his retirement. Michael was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and longtime parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church and enjoyed traveling, especially his trips to Canada to visit his family. A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Michael will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
Besides his wife Marie of 50 years Michael is survived by his daughter Kathleen Mendillo and her husband Brian of Waterbury, his brother Pierre Fafard and his wife, Colette; sisters, Helene Fafard, Denise Fafard, and Jeanine Fafard, all of Quebec Canada. In addition he leaves his granddaughters Hailey and Madison Mendillo as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins other extended family members and friends. He is predeceased by his son Stephen Fafard and his grandson Nicholas Mendillo.
Funeral services for Mr. Fafard will be Thursday June 13, 2019 at 9:15am from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury, CT to Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins St. Waterbury when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Family and friends may visit with Michael's family on Wednesday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
