THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF MICHAEL HOMEWOOD
MEMBER OF TEAM USA FOOTBALL
WATERBURY - Michael (Big Mike) Homewood, age 37 of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at Saint Mary's Hospital on Thursday, December 9, 2021. He was the loving fiancé of Amanda Costante.
Michael was born September 8th 1984 in Waterbury, CT the son of Michael Homewood of Wolcott and Nancy Gray of Georgia. Michael was raised in Wolcott and was a graduate of Wolcott High School. He worked full time at Bozzuto's Inc for 2 years before earning his bachelor's degree in environmental studies from Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Michael worked in the environmental field for various companies in several states (PA, MD, NY, WA, CT). The most recent being P2Science in Naugatuck as a Lead Chemical Operator. He was also the property owner/manager of 47 North Properties in Wolcott along with his partner and longtime friend, John Holcomb. He also developed, patented, and sold the TopRoller, a revolutionary wrist and forearm pronation and supination training tool for arm wrestling.
Michael loved playing football, having played during high school and college. Then after college with the Watertown NY Red and Black semi-pro team. His highlight was representing Team USA in Germany and France. Known as an avid fisherman/outdoorsman, he enjoyed splitting and selling firewood. He was prone to admiring stacks of wood, including his own, so he was always ready for a good campfire. Michael also enjoyed arm wrestling, competing locally and nationally.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy, in addition to his parents and his fiancé, Michael is survived by his sister, Sara Voghel and her husband, Nicholas of New Hartford, his nephews Lucas and Samuel and his niece, Emilia. He was looking forward to the birth of his expected niece. He also leaves his aunts and uncles, Janet and Marty Muniz (Pasco, WA), Tim and Gail Gray, Elaine Martinelli, and Bill and Andrea Homewood all of Wolcott, along with numerous cousins and many friends.
Relatives and friends may visit with Michael's family on Tuesday evening December 14th from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT 06705.
