THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF MICHAEL JOHNSTON
WATERBURY - Michael D. Johnston, age 68 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on his birthday at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit at Saint Mary's Hospital after an extended illness.
Michael was born June 6, 1950 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late James and Kathleen (Brown) Johnston. Growing up in Waterbury, Michael enjoyed roller skating, swimming, and playing tennis in the local parks. He was a graduate of Crosby High School and was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. Michael enjoyed meeting new people and immediately they would become instant friends for life.
Among his survivors are his siblings; Robert Johnston and his wife, Yvette of FL, Richard Johnston and his wife, Marsha of Watertown, Gerald Johnston and his wife, Marie of Oakville, Judith Johnston of Waterbury, Sandra Bartolini of Waterbury, Carol Johnston of Wolcott, and Marian Huckins and her husband, Gary of Waterbury. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces and many friends. He is predeceased by his siblings; James Johnston, Margaret "Peggy" Brick, and Kathleen "Bonnie" Lamantini.
The Johnston family would like to thank and acknowledge the doctors, nurses, and staff at Waterbury Hospital, Saint Mary's Vitas Hospice and a very special thank you to everyone at Autumn Lakes Health Care Center for all the love, care and support they provided to Michael and his family during his illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Michael will be celebrated on Wednesday June 13th 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church 74 West Main St Waterbury. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
