Mr. Michael J. Lucas

MIDDLEBURY - Michael, “Mickey” “Scup”, J. Lucas of Middlebury, passed in the comfort of his home on Christmas morning, Dec. 25, 2024. He was 94. He was the husband of Barbara (Korner) Lucas, who predeceased him in May of 2024.  

Mickey was the son of the late Philip Lucas, Sr. and Rose (DiSapio) Lucas. A loving son, brother, husband, uncle and friend, Mickey proudly served his country in the Korean War. After returning home, he was employed as a master mechanic at Frank Buick in Naugatuck, CT. With the help of his buddies, Mickey built a well known race car, #52, claimed to have been the fastest car on the Plainville race track. Following that he established his own business, Lucas Fuel. Mickey celebrated 54 years of marriage with his beloved wife Barb, and deeply felt the loss when she passed. A devoted couple, they enjoyed life together and shared many happy times with family and friends at their home in Middlebury. They also spent quality time at their home in Cape Cod any chance they could get. Mickey's sense of humor, conversations, memories and most of all his company, will be greatly missed by many.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Martha (Lucas) Traonetta, Carmela (Lucas) Filippone and his brother, Philip Lucas, Jr.

 He is survived by several nieces and nephews and close friends.

 Funeral services for Mr Lucas will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated A Mass is being offered at Saint John of the Cross Church, 1263 West Street, Middlebury, CT. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Military honors will be accorded to Mr Lucas immediately following the church service. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family. There are no calling hours.
