Mr. Michael Marc-Aurele

June 25, 1968 — December 31, 2022

OAKVILLE – Mr. Michael G. Marc-Aurele, age 54 of Oakville, passed away unexpectedly at Waterbury Hospital on December 31, 2022. He was the beloved husband, partner, and best friend of Sandy Murphy.

Michael was born on June 25, 1968, the son of Cheryl (LeBlanc) and the late Denis Marc-Aurele of Thomaston. He graduated from Holy Cross High School and then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and fought valiantly during the Panama conflict. Michael went on to study finance at the University of Connecticut and then worked at The Hartford for many years. Michael was a wonderful father and was very proud of his two sons and all their accomplishments. He was passionate about sports and the benefits of its life lessons for his children. He loved to watch them play and devoted many hours cheering on his boys. He took them to countless practices, games, and tournaments. One year, his son, William, and his travel baseball team were invited to play in the Little League World Series. Michael and Will drove across country to Seattle just to play. They visited ball parks and other places of intertest along the way. Michael loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends and had just returned from a beautiful trip to Hawaii with his family and friends. He was a lifelong NY Knicks and Yankees fan and frequently attended games. He will be truly missed by so many who were blessed to know and love him.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, besides his devoted wife, Sandy, are his cherished sons, William and Ryan, his mother, Cheryl Marc-Aurele, his sister, Michelle Matthews of Thomaston, and his grandmother, Dorothy Jane LeBlanc of Maine. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Barbara Murphy, two sisters-in-law, Cathy Murphy and her husband Marvin Norton, and Debra and Hasbert Matos, as well as a very large and loving extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Michael was predeceased by his father, Denis Marc-Aurele, his father-in-law, William Murphy, his grandfather, Howard LeBlanc and his grandparents, Jean Pierre and Simone Marc-Aurele.
