WATERBURY - Michael L. Norton, Jr. age 72, of Waterbury, passed away on Tuesday June 3, 2014 at Abbott Terrace Health Center after an extended illness.

Mr. Norton was born May 11, 1942 in Pittston, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Michael & Jessie (Pizzella) Norton and Angelina Norton. He was a graduate of Marymount High School in Wilkes-Barre, PA and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War Conflict. Michael worked for many years at Somers Thin Strip prior to his retirement and enjoyed watching old movies, reading, and traveling, especially cruises. He was an avid New York Yankee's fan and a UCONN Men's & Women's Basketball fan. Michael's family would like to thank and acknowledge the staff at Abbott Terrace Health Care Center for the loving care and attention they provided to him during his stay.

Among his survivors are his spouse, Barbara Fortier, his children, Margaret Rocco and her husband Bob of Waterbury, William Norton and his wife Joni of Naugatuck, Patrick Norton and his wife Erin of Waterbury, his sisters, Helen Trashciatti of Wilkes-Barre, PA. Ann Milligan of Berwick, PA, and Cathleen Padula of Southbury, CT. his brothers, William Norton of Prospect, and Robert Norton of Watertown, He also leaves his seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Michael L. Norton III.
Funeral services for Mr. Norton will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at10:00a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Loreto Church 12 Ardsley Road Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends of Michael's may visit with Michael's family at Eastside Memorial, "A Casey Family Funeral Home and Tribute Center" 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd., Waterbury on Thursday evening from 5 till 7 p.m. Memorial contributions in Michael's memory may be made to the Saint Vincent DePaul Mission of Waterbury, Inc.
