Oakville - Mr. Michael A. Paternoster Sr.,age 72, of Fiume St Oakville, died Saturday April 11, 2009 at Waterbury Hospital after an extended illness. He was the husband of Holly (Poulin) Paternoster.
Mr. Paternoster was born August 10th 1936 in Waterbury, CT the son of the late Peter and Catherine (Giannini) Paternoster. He attended Kaynor Technical School and worked as a machine operator at Scovill Manufacturing for many years. His hobbies included, camping and fishing as well as spending time with his children and grandchildren. He volunteered with the Connecticut Special Olympics where he was a coach for the cycling, and cross country skiing events and was a member of the "Kennecticut Hardware Coffee Club" and was a parishioner of All Saints Episcopal Church in Oakville..
Besides his wife, Holly of 49 years, Mr. Paternoster is survived by two sons, Michael Anthony Paternoster Jr. and his wife Laurie of South Glastonbury, and Gary Paternoster of Oakville, two sisters, Theresa and Victoria Bovat, both of Oakville. He also leaves three grandchildren, Kaela, Collin, and Nicholas, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Dominick Paternoster and sister Esther Brazee.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Paternoster will be held Tuesday evening, April 14th at 7:00 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church 262 Main St Oakville. Burial of his cremated remains will be in the church's memorial garden. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Michael's memory may be made to the Watertown Area Association for Special Citizens, C/O Rocco Calabrese, Litchfield Rd Watertown CT 06795 or to the All Saints Episcopal Church, Scholarship Fund, 262 Main St Oakville, CT 06779.
