AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - Michael Solla age 78 of Belden Street, Watertown, passed away Sunday March 7, 2010 at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury. He was the loving husband of Louise (Marciano) Solla.
Michael was born August 19, 1931 in Oakville, a son of the late Michael and Jennie (DiStefano) Solla and lived in Watertown for the past 53 years. He was a graduate of Watertown High School. Prior to his retirement in 1987, he was employed as a plant manager at the former Coke-Cola Bottling Company in Waterbury where he worked for over 25 years. Michael proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He also served in the US Navy. Michael loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and both he and his sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone whose life he touched. He was a member of the VFW Post 7330 in Oakville and was a communicant and former usher at Saint John the Evangelist Church.
Besides his wife of 53 tears of Watertown, he leaves two daughters Joyce Stukshis and her husband Edward of Lakeside, Michele Esandrio of Goshen, six grandchildren David, Erin and Michael Stukshis and Alyssa, Alexandra and Nicholas Esandrio as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin brother Eugune and his brother Nicholas.
Funeral Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main Street Oakville to Saint John the Evangelist Church for Mass at 9. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
