THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF MICHAEL TANGNEY
WATERBURY - Michael J. Tangney, age 78 of Waterbury and Ft. Myers FL, passed away at home on January 1, 2021. He was the devoted husband of Lucille (Asetta) (Champagne) Tangney of 36 years.
Mr. Tangney was born on October 3, 1942 in Waterbury, CT the son of the late Anna (Moran) and Charles R. Tangney. He was a graduate of local schools and the University of Bridgeport and was a communicant of St Anthony's Church in Prospect. Michael was employed by the State of Connecticut, Department of Revenue Services as a career field tax examiner and worked for several years in the corporation and excise audit tax divisions, retiring in 2003. He worked as a fuel tax consultant in the Western, CT area and retired to Ft Myers, Fl in 2003. He was appointed clerk by the Lee County Voting District and managed several precincts over a number of years. Michael and Lucille loved to travel and did so extensively. A sports enthusiast all his life, he enjoyed playing tennis and golf in his retirement. Michael was a member of the Waterbury Elks Lodge # 265 where he was a life member and enjoyed spending the winter months at his home in Jamaica Bay, Florida for over 20 years.
Left to honor Michael's love and legacy besides his wife, Lucille, are his stepdaughter, Cheryl
Harper and her husband, Bill of Dayville, CT, two stepsons, Craig Champagne and his wife, Melissa of Norfolk, VA and Chris Champagne and his wife, Debbie, of Wolcott, several step grandchildren who were major part of his life and whom he enjoyed immensely; Kenton and Tyler Wilcox and Carly. Kyle and Olivia Champagne and Christopher and Brenton Champagne. He also leaves his sister, Kathryn Lyman of Watertown, and his two nieces; Susan Santopietro and Sandra Brodeur also of Watertown, whom he loved dearly.
