WATERBURY - Mr. Miguel A. Nieves age 73, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at Saint Mary's Hospital on Tuesday, November 17th 2015 after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Maria Nieves-Tirado.
Miguel was born August 9th 1942 in Utuado Puerto Rico, the son of the late Jose Nieves Batista and Maria Montero Gonzalez. He moved to Connecticut at the age of 17 and spent over 30 years working as a truck driver for Waterbury Companies Inc. He enjoyed fishing, playing softball, and dominos, He also enjoyed gardening with his wife, Maria until her passing last January 2014.
Among his survivors are his children, his daughter, Sylvia Velez and her husband Angel of Wolcott, his sons, Michael Nieves and his wife Lisbett Villalba of Waterbury and Anthony Nieves of Waterbury, his eight grandchildren, Phoebe, Carlos, Michael, Robert, Aaliyah, Marissa, Victor and Ariana as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may visit with Miguel's family on Thursday evening from 5:00 ~ 8:00 pm at Casey's Eastside Memorial, 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury. Funeral services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
