WATERBURY -Mrs. Mollie D. Newsome, age 96, unexpectedly departed on December 17th 2020.
Mollie was born on December 6, 1924 in Tishomingo, MS. She was the youngest of 9 children born to the late Earnest and Katie Barton-Hodges. She was raised in a Christian household, in the Carter's Branch Community.
Mollie married Perry L. Newsome Sr. and they relocated to Waterbury, CT, where she continued her spiritual journey as a member of Zion Baptist Church. Mollie and Perry started and owned their family business, Perry's Auto Body, which still remains in the family. Mr. & Mrs. Newsome went on to have 5 sons. Mollie was the full-time caregiver for their youngest son, born with special needs, until her heavenly departure.
Mollie was preceded by her parents, 8 siblings, her husband Perry Sr. and her son, Edwin Newsome. She leaves to cherish her memories, four sons: Perry L. Newsome Jr., Thomas Curtis (Deborah) Newsome, Barney H. (Carolyn) Newsome and Clifford Newsome.
Mollie leaves loving memories with her grandchildren: Terri Jones-Cooper, Tonya Daley, Thomas C. Newsome Jr., Cassaundra Newsome-Lenoir, Pamela Newsome, Marcus Waters, Perry (Jason) Newsome, Jared Waters and Danelle Newsome. She leaves 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. She also leaves loving memories with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs Newsome will be held privately at the families convenience. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for all of the support, gifts of kindness and love during this difficult time.
