Devoted to his family
WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness that the family of Morgan F. Dowling age 80 of Waterbury, share news of his peaceful passing on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at the Vitas Inpatient Unit of St Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Leah (Dreher) Dowling.
Morgan was born on June 22, 1944, in Waterbury, the son of the late John and Muriel (Moody) Dowling. He was educated in local schools and worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for CL&P (Northeast Utilities/Eversource) for 38 years before retiring at the age of 62. Morgan loved traveling with his family, especially to Cape Cod and New Hampshire. He was an avid fan of music of all sorts but especially the Beach Boys and Chicago. Nothing was more important to Morgan than his family, especially being a devoted husband to Leah for 55 years and a loving father and grandfather. He was a giant of everything good, humility, integrity and generosity. Our family thanks you Dad, for battling your disease with such bravery, for your incredible strength and the love that you shared with all of us which has helped instill in us a capacity to love that is unending.
Left to cherish his memory, beside his loving wife Leah are his sons; Mark of Terryville, Craig and his wife Gina of Wallingford and Matthew and his wife Karen of Old Saybrook. Morgan and Leah were blessed with four grandchildren, Emily, Lindsay, Andrew and Evan. He also leaves his brother-in-law Ronald Dreher and his wife, Louise, sister-in-law Beverley Luddy and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Willis Dowling, brother-in-law Timothy Luddy Sr., and sister-in-law Judith Dreher. Morgan’s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff at Vitas Healthcare for their kindness, support, and empathy while Morgan was under their care.
