Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather
FORT MEYERS FL - Joseph P. Cuifalo, age 69 of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family and loved ones at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, after a short but courageous battle with brain cancer. He was the husband of Nancy Rose (White) Cuifalo.
Joe was born September 4, 1955, in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Anthony and Philomena “Fannie” (Porcaro) Cuifalo and was the adopted son of the late Eleanor Sparano Rinaldi Cuifalo. Joseph grew up in the Hopeville neighborhood of Waterbury and was affectionately called "Babe" by family members because of his natural baseball swing. He enjoyed playing golf with his work and childhood friends and coaching various youth sports in Wolcott. He was commonly referred to as "Coach" from his many years of coaching basketball, baseball and football. He will always be remembered for his passionate, youthful approach to teaching students of all ages. After 42 years as a USPS letter carrier, Joe retired in 2019 to North Fort Myers, Florida. There, he enjoyed hustling on the tennis courts, winning softball championships and relaxing with friends and family. Joseph will be remembered for his quick wit, sarcasm and sense of humor and he will be missed dearly by the many lives he touched, friends he made and family for whom he cared deeply.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, besides his wife of 44 years, Nancy are his children; Eleanor Cuifalo of Wolcott, CT, Anthony Cuifalo, Nancy M. Cuifalo and Annie Powell of Worcester, MA. He also leaves his two grandsons, Jeremy and Preston Scanlon of Wolcott, CT, as well as many nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his parents and his stepbrothers, Joseph Rinaldi of Old Lyme and James Rinaldi of Waterbury.
The Cuifalo family is sincerely grateful and would like to thank and acknowledge their many friends, who have provided constant love, support, and comfort to them during this time of loss.
