Julio Ceasar Santiago was born on February 11th, 1952, in New York City and peacefully passed away at his home in Waterbury Connecticut at the age of 72.
Julio was the eldest son of Alfredo Santiago Sr. and the late Elena Rodriguez Lugo. Julio moved from New York to Waterbury when he was 2 years old where he attended school and began working in auto mechanics as a teen. Julio worked as a technician for Phillips Magnavox in Cheshire CT for many years before he retired. He enjoyed many hobbies including cycling, shooting pool with friends, and playing the congas. He had a true love and passion for the sport of handball. A sport close to his New York roots and a community that he was proud to be a part of. Julio loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Julio is survived by his brother, Alfredo Santiago Jr, of Waterbury, CT. His children, Anthony Santiago of California, Tammy Santiago of New Hampshire, Ivelisse C. Silva and her husband Bruce of Florida, Julia Rosado and her husband Matthew of Bristol, CT, Jade Castagna of Cheshire, CT, Trevor Castagna of Florida, Viana Barnes of Plymouth, CT and Mario Santiago of New York. He is predeceased by his daughter, Natalie Santiago. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Santiago will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT 06705 to All Saints-Todos Los Santos Parish at The Shrine of St. Anne Church, 515 South Main St. Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family. Relatives and friends may visit with the Santiago family from 8:45 a.m. until the procession leaves for church at 10:30 a.m. Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury who has been honored to care for Julio and his family during this difficult time.
