AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME IN OAKVILLE
Torrington - Muriel O. (Steeves) Capinera, age 85, passed away Sunday, July 8th in Torrington, CT. She was the widow of John J. Capinera, her husband of 61 years.
Muriel was born March 22, 1927 in Bridgeport, CT, the daughter of the late Lowell and Margaret (Sarauw) Steeves. She spent much of her childhood in Hillsborough, New Brunswick, Canada and returned to the United States when 13, attending schools in Central Valley, NY, and Bridgeport. She worked in several firms in Bridgeport before meeting her husband John while he was on leave from the service. They married in 1946 and resided in Bridgeport and Stratford until 1985 when they moved to Watertown. Muriel worked at the Remington Company until her retirement in 1984. Her favorite hobbies included bowling, fishing, and gardening. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
Among her survivors are: son John and his wife Marsha Capinera of Gainesville, FL; son Allan Capinera of Thomaston; daughter in-law Jane Capinera of Watertown; granddaughters Elizabeth and her husband Eric Donnelly of Waterbury; Erica Capinera of Orlando, FL; and Rebecca Capinera of Northampton, MA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Capinera well be held on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11:00 am at the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St. Oakville. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 10:00 until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. In lieu of flowers, in grateful appreciation for the care provided to Muriel and her family, please honor her memory with a contribution to Torrington Health and Rehabilitation Center, 225 Wyoming Ave., Torrington, CT 06790.
