Bethlehem - Nadine G. (Auclair) Nettleton age 79 of Magnolia Hill Rd, formerly of Terryville and New Milford, died Saturday January 16th 2010 at her home after a long but valiant battle with Breast Cancer, which spread to her bones. She fought cancer with courage, strength, and dignity. She was the widow of David A. Nettleton.

Mrs. Nettleton was born September 2nd 1930 in Bronxville, NY, the daughter of the late George Remington and Marie (Whitley) Fairlamb. She grew up in Pelham Manor, NY spending summers in East Hampton Long Island; She graduated from Southern Seminary and Jr. College, in Buena Vista, VA with an associates degree in marketing. She continued her education studying nursing and graduated from Saint Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in New York, NY and obtained her R.N. degree from New York University. She raised her family in New Milford, CT and dedicated most of her life to caring for and helping people in need. Her nursing career spanned 54 years including many titles and responsibilities such as Director of Nursing, Staff Development Director, Recovery Room Head Nurse, Intensive Care Head Nurse, Instructor of Nursing, Occupational Health Nurse for the Nestle Co. and Night Supervisor.

She served as past President, Treasurer and Secretary of the Oakville VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 7330. She was past president of Wives of U.S. Submarine Veteran's of WW II, of Groton CT and a past Deacon of First Congregational Church of Waterbury. She was instrumental in coordinating a "Joy of Christmas Dinner" for several hundred needy people at no charge, and has volunteered for the cause every Christmas for the past 18 years.

Nadine was loved and admired for the dedication to her family, her nursing career and to our veterans, especially submariners of WWII. Anyone who knew her, whether it was for a moment or a lifetime, had the same feeling about her. She was very special and had a way of connecting with people she came into contact with. One could not help but be affected by her presence and love. She reminded us always of the true meaning of family with her unconditional love and support.

Among her survivors are her son John W. Auclair of Bangor, Maine, her daughters Jennifer Auclair of New Milford and Jeanne Dubray of Bethlehem, her sister Beatrice Beadle of Storrs, her brother George Fairlamb II of Texas, her sister in-law Carolyn Kuehn of Florida, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, her stepsons Michael and Joseph Nettleton of Naugatuck, John Nettleton of Oregon, David Nettleton of Danbury, Mark Nettleton of Stratford. She also has eight step grandchildren including her step grandchild Keith, whom she helped raise,and 3 step great grandchildren. Her nieces, Lynda Griffin of New York, Courtney and Gentry Fairlamb of Texas, Melissa Fairlamb, and 2 great nieces.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nettleton will be held on Wednesday January 20th, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 222 West Main St Waterbury, Ct. Friends and family may visit in the church's Hearth room from 9:30a.m. until the time of service. There will be a reception to celebrate her life in Clinton Hall at the church, immediately following the service. Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery in Killingworth. The Casey-O'Donnell family funeral home has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St Jude's Children's Research Hospital. 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
