THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF NANCY CURULLA
OAKVILLE - Nancy Lucy (Garbatini) Curulla, age 94 of Oakville passed away at Waterbury Hospital on February 15, 2021. She was the widow of Domenic Curulla of 75 years.
She was born in Waterbury on December 22,1926 to the late Settimia and Gaurino Garbatini. Like many of "The Greatest Generation", Nancy's values and ethics were forged by The Depression, World War II, and her Italian heritage. These instilled in her a sense of determination, selflessness, and dedication to family. Indeed, her home was the nucleus of her life, where her cooking and baking skills were shared and enjoyed by friends, neighbors, and family alike. She was an avid UConn girls' basketball fan and a devotee of Jeopardy and "The Wheel." However, her true passion was her grandchildren and great-grandson.
She is survived by her sons; Anthony (Claudette) of East Boothbay, ME, and Gary (Carol) of West Hartford; granddaughter, Annelle and her husband, Matthew Anderson of Claremont, CA; grandson Nathan (Elisabeth) of Trumbull and their son, William. In addition, she leaves behind several beloved sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers; Armand and Raymond, and sisters, Yolanda Ercoli and Rena DeSena.
The family expresses special gratitude for the care and selflessness of friends, neighbors, and family members who enabled her to remain in her home. Special thanks are extended to her caregiver Terri, from Guardian Angels Home Care who went above and beyond to help Nancy sustain an independent lifestyle throughout her latter days.
