THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF NICHOLAS APICELLA Jr.

WATERBURY - Nicholas Apicella Jr. age 72 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on Wednesday, May 22nd 2019 at the Village Green of Bristol after an extended illness. He was the husband of Charlotte (Provancher) Apicella.

Nick was born May 1st 1947 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Nicholas and Theresa (Fortier) Apicella Sr. He was a lifelong Waterbury resident and attended local schools before entering the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and received several medals and citations including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Nick spent many years working for Waterbury Rolling Mills as a steel worker and foundry operator until his retirement in 2008. He enjoyed camping, long rides in the car and dancing. He was also a classic car and Harley Davidson enthusiast and enjoyed spending time in his garage maintaining and working on his vehicles. What was most important to Nicholas was his family spending time with them and always looked forward to cooking and preparing meals for all of his family.

Besides his wife, Charlotte of 52 years, Nicholas is survived by his children; Nicholas Apicella III and his wife, Leann of Terryville, Catherine Gaylord and her husband, Rick of Terryville, Diana Apicella of Vernon, Linda Apicella and Elizabeth Greenlee, both of Waterbury. In addition, he leaves his brother, Joseph, sisters, Darlene and Theresa and his adoring 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Apicella will be held on Tuesday, May 28th 2019 at 6:30pm at the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St. Oakville, CT 06779. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family.
