Beloved Husband, Father, Son and Brother
WATERBURY- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nicholas Vaichus, age 35, of Waterbury, who passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the UCONN Medical Center in Farmington after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Caitlin (Sabella) Vaichus.
Nick, born June 20, 1989, in Waterbury, CT, was the son of Charles and Patricia (Windisch) Vaichus. He was a graduate of Naugatuck Valley Community College where he earned his associate’s degree in mechanical technology and continued his education at Central Connecticut State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He spent several years working for Sensorworxs in Wallingford, CT, making significant contributions to the field. Nick was a loving father, husband, and son, and an active parishioner at Motion Church in Waterbury, where he served as an associate pastor. He also had a passion for disc golf, music, and football as long as it was the Jaguars.
Left to honor his memory and cherish his legacy besides his wife, Caitlin, of 12 years, are his children, Raelynn and Zachary Vaichus. He also leaves his parents, Charles and Patricia (Windisch) Vaichus of Wolcott, his father and mother-in-law, Pastor Casey and Patricia (Cuneo) Sabella of Waterbury, his paternal grandmother, Anne Vaichus of Oakville, as well as his siblings, Alan Vaichus and his wife, Karen of Gardner SC, Benjamin Vaichus and his wife, Danielle of Plainville, Christopher Vaichus and his wife, Emily, of Southington, Justin Vaichus and his wife Samantha, of Southington, Rachel Varanelli and her husband, Christopher, of Bristol and Brittany Vaichus of Jacksonville, NC. In addition, he also leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members, and many friends.
A Memorial Service to honor Nicholas' life will be held on Saturday, August 24th, 2024, at 10:00 am at Cornerstone Church of Cheshire, 1146 Waterbury Rd., Cheshire, CT 067410. There are no calling hours. Burial will be held privately and at the convenience of his family. Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, has been honored to care for Nicholas and his family during this difficult time.
