THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF NICHOLAS ZAPPONE


WOLCOTT CT - Nicholas Henry Zappone Sr. age 70 of Wolcott, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, October 14th 2017 after a brief illness.

Nicholas was born May 26th 1947 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Nicholas and Bernice (Miller) Zappone. He was a graduate of Wilby High School and proudly served his country with the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart for injuries received during his service. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Nicholas spent many years working as a letter carrier for the United States Post Office delivering mail in the Oakville area where be made many friends. Nick enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, and fishing and was a member of the Oakville VFW Post 7330 and a member of the Cercemaggiore Community Club in Oakville. What brought the greatest joy to Nicholas was spending time with his grandchildren who he adored and enjoyed sharing stories with. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and all who were blessed to know and love him.

Among his survivors are his son, Nicholas H. Zappone Jr. and his fiancé, Carla Ramos of Unionville, his brothers; Michael Zappone of Australia, Mark Zappone of Wolcott and his sister, Victoria Zappone Levine of Waterbury. In addition he is leaves behind his grandchildren; Natasha, Nichole, Maiella, and Cameron and his former wife Lea Guerrera Hudak of Oakville. He is predeceased by his brother, Thomas Zappone

Funeral services for Mr. Zappone will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Relatives and friends may visit with Nick's family on Tuesday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, to honor Nick's memory, donations can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project at PO Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
