“An unbearable loss”
WOLCOTT– It is with profound sadness and unbearable grief that the parents of Nicolas Armand Burgio, age 9, announce his passing after a 6-year courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, in the comfort of his home surrounded by the love of his family.
Nicolas was born on July 26, 2014, in Bristol, CT, the son of Michele M. Kasparian and Robert Burgio. He was a 3rd grader at Frisbee Elementary School. Nicolas was a very strong boy who always had a smile on his face no matter the circumstances he was facing. He loved dinosaurs, being outside, and playing videogames, especially Roblox and Fortnite. What Nicolas loved the most was being with his family and friends. We should share with you that children, especially Nicolas, have a remarkable wisdom, humor, and genuineness about life and death. What can you say about a nine-year-old whose life is taken at such an unbelievably early age is: Our Nicolas would simply say: “Let’s all be kind to each other”. When speaking to someone who’s loved one has died, let’s all be more like that little boy who spoke from his heart and hugged me around my legs. Let’s be more like kids.
Besides his parents, Robert and Michele, he leaves his two brothers, Robert Burgio Jr., and Domenic Burgio, nephew Luca Burgio, grandmothers; Barbara Burgio, and Marjorie Kasparian, uncles; Frank, Ken, Mike, and Armand, aunts; Robin and Lisa, best friend and cousin, Brayden Marrero, along with cousins, extended family and friends. Nicolas was predeceased by his grandfathers; Frank Burgio Sr. and Armand Kasparian.
His parents and family would like to thank Connecticut Childrens Medical Center staff and doctors for the compassionate care and love they shared with Nicolas and his entire family over the years. Nicolas was so grateful to have made so many friends there.
Funeral Services for Nicolas will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St., Waterbury, CT.
