Oakley F. Fuller

WATERTOWN - Oakley F. Fuller, age 88 of Watertown, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late N. Ruth (Gursky) Fuller.

Oakley was born in Waterbury on December 23, 1927, the son of the late Clarence and Margaret (Coleman) Fuller. He was educated in local schools and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Oakley led facilities management at Keeler and Long for many years and was employed at U.S. Time as an apprentice toolmaker as well as Blake & Johnson as a Superintendent. He belonged to several civic organizations including Elks Lodge of Torrington #372, American Legion in Naugatuck # 17, Oakville VFW # 7330 and 70 Ski Club. He was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Watertown. He enjoyed driving through the Berkshires in his red BMW convertible, breakfast meetings at Chubba's, vacationing in Cape Cod, reading, playing golf, and celebrating at German festivals throughout New England. He loved tinkering in his garage, and was well-known for being able to fix almost anything. He was a longtime skier and a founder of the NAVA ski club. Oakley will be sadly missed by his loving family and by all who knew and loved him.

Oakley leaves four children: Glenn Fuller and his wife Lianne, of Cheshire; Gail Capolupo and her husband David, of Oakville; Nancy Pestey and her husband, JR of Watertown; and Natalie Testa and her husband James, also of Watertown. He also leaves his brother Robert Fuller and his wife Rosalie of Watertown, and his two grandchildren, Lauren and Michael Capolupo.

Funeral services for Mr. Fuller will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 10:00 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, Main Street, Watertown. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to go directly to the church. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with Mr. Fuller's family on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. at O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street, Oakville.
