WATERBURY - Octaciano Gutierrez Perez, age 87 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at Waterbury hospital on Wednesday September 1st 2021. He was the beloved husband of Herminia Gutierrez
Octaciano was born July 14th 1934 in Dominican Republic the son of the late Antiliano and Rosa Gutierrez Perez. He was raised in the Dominican Republic and where he owned and operated a fruit stand for many years. Octaciano moved to the Connecticut area in 2000 and proudly received his US Citizenship in 2018. He was an avid collector of cowboy hats which he loved to wear and was a extremely competitive domino's player. He always looked forward to a challenging game against his family but always played to win. He was a parishioner of To Dos Los Santos All Saints Parish and was always happiest while spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to have known and love him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, besides his wife Herminia of 54 years he leaves his 22 children, 53 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. In addition he also leaves his 13 brothers and sisters and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services for Mr Gutierrez Perez will be held on Saturday September 4th at 10:00am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church 309 S. Main St Waterbury. All those attending are kindly asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Friends and relatives may visit with the Gutierrez Perez family on Friday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1987 East Main St Waterbury We remain concerned about COVID # 19 so masks and social distancing will be required for all participants indoors.
