Olga Reiser

April 30, 1923 — June 16, 2013

Waterbury - Olga Reiser, widow of Arnold Reiser, departed from this life on Sunday June 16 at the Vitas Hospice Unit at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. She was born April 30th, 1923 in Waterbury CT. She was the daughter of the late Pietro (Peter) and Luisa Stoto.

Survivors include her daughter and son in law Judy and Sal DiStasio of Waterbury CT, with whom she made her home. She is also survived by her three grandsons and their wives (her "granddaughters") and seven great granddaughters all of whom loved and cherished her as Gram and Nonni. They are Kevin and Nicole DiStasio and their daughters Annabelle & Scarlett of Chattanooga TN; David & Kristen DiStasio and their daughters Stella & Chloe of Mt. Vernon NY; Jeffrey & Laurie DiStasio and their daughters Grace, Madeline & Sara of Prospect CT. Survivors also include her brother and sister-in-law Delio & Nancy Stoto of Lake Worth FL; her sister-in-law Peggy Stoto of Oakville CT; several nieces and nephews and many friends who had the privilege of having Olga in their lives.
Besides her husband, who departed this world 48 years ago, and her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Stoto.

Throughout her life, Olga held various quality control positions at US Time (Timex), Roehr Products and Venus Consolidated Industries. She had also been a valued employee of Casual Corner at the Naugatuck Valley Mall.

Olga was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was a kind, caring and generous lady who always saw the good in everyone and always placed the needs of her family and friends before her own. Olga fought through her personal challenges with great grace and dignity and found her daily strength in her unwavering Catholic faith. She also found great joy in cooking, baking and serving all of the wonderful people in her life. Of the many simple but profound blessings Olga had in her life, none brought her more joy than family and friends, who all came together recently for her 90th birthday celebration. Many people traveled a great distance to be with her - a fitting tribute to a remarkable woman. It was a joyous occasion and many were fortunate to be able to share that special day with her. Olga loved to watch sports on TV and was an avid fan of the UCONN women's and men's basketball teams and, in spite of her grandsons' passion for the NY Yankees, was also a die-hard Red Sox fan. Her grandsons took her to a Red Sox game at Fenway Park to celebrate her 85th birthday and the Red Sox posted "Happy 85th Birthday Olga Reiser from the Boston Red Sox" on their huge stadium screen. She had a wonderful day. Olga always felt truly blessed and even in her final days, to the nurses and doctors entrusted with her care, she expressed "I've had a beautiful life". A beautiful life it was indeed.
