Four Generations of Legacy
WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Osvaldo Mejil. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Born on August 18, 1945, in Guanica, Puerto Rico to the late Raul Mejil and Ester Cuevas Mejil. Osvaldo along with his eleven other siblings grew up in a nurturing home and developed a deep sense of compassion and empathy.
Osvaldo met his soulmate and the love of his life, Paula. Theirs was a love story that spanned 59 beautiful years filled with laughter, companionship and unwavering support. Together, they built a strong foundation of love and nurtured a family that would become their greatest pride and joy.
Besides his beautiful wife Paula, Osvaldo leaves behind two sons, Osbardo Sr. (Iris) Mejil of Queens, NY, Marco (Norma) Mejil of Waterbury, CT; two daughters, Marisol Mejil and Silvia Mejil both of Waterbury,CT; siblings Isaac Mejil, Melin Mejil, Milka Mejil, Tirsa Mejil, and Providencia Zapata Mejil, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and countless friends. Osvaldo was pre-deceased by his son, David Mejil.
Osvaldo touched the lives of all who knew him and leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories.
As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life well-lived, filled with kindness, wisdom and unwavering devotion. His warm heart and gentle nature were evident from an early age and these qualities would remain steadfast throughout his remarkable journey and legacy.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023. Calling hours will begin at 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM with the Homegoing Celebration starting at 11:00 AM at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will be at the convenience of his family in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury, CT.
