Devoted to his family and loved by everyone
OAKVILLE – Ottaviano Domenic Romano, 85, of Oakville, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Saint Mary’s Hospital.
Ottaviano was born on March 22, 1937 in Sassinoro, Benevento, Italy to the late Antonio and Modestina (Focareta) Romano. He came to the United States in March of 1958, and has been a resident of Oakville ever since. Ottaviano’s first job was at a local chicken farm and enjoyed many long hours caring for the chickens. He then went to work at Saint Mary’s Hospital as a housekeeper for over 45 years. His passion, besides his family, was his garden and he was proud to share his harvest with the entire neighborhood. He recalls fondly, a man coming from Rome and capturing a photo of Ottaviano with a lamb on his shoulder. Ottaviano treasured that photo to his last days. Despite living in Oakville for over 60 years, he would always tell stories about his childhood in Sassinoro. What Ottaviano loved most however, was spending time surrounded by his family and friends. He enjoyed a full life, blessed by the love of family and friends.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memories are his brothers; Pasquale Romano of South Carolina, Mario (Arcangela) Romano, and Rocco (Debra Romano) both of Watertown. His sister Mary (Bruno) DiSisto of Watertown. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews; Silvio DiSisto, Giuseppina DiSisto, Silvia Ouellette, Lisa Pocesta, Tony Romano, Michael Romano, Gina Santoro, Angela Stansell, and Jennifer Liberman and another generation of great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his niece Tina (Romano) DiBuccio. The family would like to extend their most sincere apprecaiton to his caregivers, especially, Lori and Jean for the excellent care and all of the love they shared with Ottaviano and his entire family these past few years.
