Ozzie (Osmat) Tajildeen

January 1, 1942 — February 21, 2015

Ozzie (Osmat) Tajildeen,74, died on Saturday, February 21st at Waterbury Hospital. He was born in Baadaran El-Shouf in Lebanon on January 1st, 1942, son of Shaheen Tajildeen and Yasmin Tajildeen. He emigrated to the United States in 1970 when he helped manage Tajildeen Corner, a long-established business founded by his late uncle Shibley (Joe)Tajildeen on East Main Street in Waterbury. He later owned and managed the property until 1997 when he sold it and decided to pursue other business ventures.

Ozzie's passing is a big loss to all those who have known him in Waterbury and throughout the Tri-state area, especially members of the Lebanese community. He will always be remembered as a kind, generous, and loving man with a big heart and gregarious personality. Always willing and eager to assist, he helped many newly-arrived immigrants find employment and settle in their adopted country. He will be sorely missed by all of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

He is survived by his sons Sam and Bilal, their mother Jessie Tajildeen, his grandchildren Mia and Ava, his aunt Fay, Taj Tajildeen, all of Waterbury. His uncle Mahmoud Tajildeen and his family. Also survived by his aunts Khawla and Salha Tajildeen Abou Ghanim, both of Lebanon, his cousins Afif Baz of Beacon Falls, Pamela Tajildeen and Amal Boughanim, both ,of Waterbury, also his cousins in Canada Riad and Nizar Boughanim in addition to cousins Riad Baz in Australia. Hatem, Fady, Samah Abou Hadir and their families. Rabah, Saeed, Hind, and Rouwaida Tajildeen all of the United States.

Calling hours are from 6:00-8:00 on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Eastside memorial, 1987 E. Main St. Waterbury, CT 06705. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 27 at the funeral home at 11:00 am followed by burial at the Cavalry Cemetery.
