THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF PATRIC P. DAMELIO
Retired Ansonia High School Science Teacher
WOLCOTT - Patric Damelio, age 74, of Wolcott, passed away peacefully at his home early Wednesday morning with his family by his side. He was married to his college sweetheart, Lucia "Lucy" (Romano) Damelio, for the past 50 years.
Pat was born on July 19, 1945, the son of the late Albert and Carmela (Ariola) Damelio of Waterbury. He was a 1963 graduate of Croft High School and a 1967 graduate of UConn, and he later went on to earn Master of Science degrees in both Biology and Environmental Science from SCSU. He taught science and photography at Ansonia High School for over 30 years, taught courses at UConn, and worked as a real estate agent early in his retirement.
Pat was known by all as someone who was generous of nature: with his time, money, and humor. All who knew and loved him would attest to his unique eccentricities and peccadillos, as Pat truly marched to the beat of his own drum in the best ways possible. He loved gardening and the outdoors, and he spent most of his free time teaching and helping others. Some of his other hobbies included photography, geology, canoeing, cooking, hiking, camping, and taxidermy (to name only a few), and he was famous for giving people just the right nicknames to suit their personalities. For over forty years he coached numerous baseball and softball teams in the Waterbury area and throughout Connecticut, and he was as proud bringing his Waterbury One American Legion team to the state championship in the 1990s as he was teaching a ten year old how to catch properly.
Left to remember and honor Pat's love and legacy is his beloved daughter, Lisa Durant of Wolcott, and he was predeceased by his cherished son, Marc Damelio. He also leaves his treasured grandchildren, Logan Durant of Wolcott and Bryanna Gallagher and her husband, Sean, of New Jersey, his two sisters, Barbara Damelio of Florida and Alberta Curtis of North Carolina, and his brother, Carmen Damelio, and his wife, Lynn, of Pennsylvania. His late in-laws, Carmelo and Carmela Romano, adored him, and he had close life-long relationships with his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph Romano and Dora Linsalato. Also left to remember Pat are his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom loved and enjoyed him.
