AT THE CASEY - O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - Mrs. Patricia (Casey) Keavney, age 87, formerly of Beach Ave, Watertown, and Palm City, Florida, died Wednesday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Frank T. Keavney, to whom she was married for forty-two years.
Patricia was born in Waterbury on March 6, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Garrett W. and Mary (Feeley) Casey. Pat was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grammar School and High School and worked as an executive secretary at Mattatuck Manufacturing and then as a business representative at Southern New England Telephone Co. for over 20 years until her retirement in 1985. After her retirement, she spent many years volunteering at St. Mary's Hospital in the gift shop and later as a patient advocate and was a long-time member of the St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed her winters in Florida, where she was an active member and volunteer at Holy Redeemer Church in Palm City. Patricia loved to travel and particularly enjoyed visiting her family and friends in Ireland.
Patricia leaves her daughter, Patricia Keavney-Maruca and her husband Robert, with whom she lived, as well as her two adoring grandchildren, Phelan and Matthew Maruca. She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Carmella (Mrs. William) Casey, and Joan (Mrs. John) Casey. A generous, vivacious, and loving woman, she is survived by twenty-seven nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by her seven siblings.
Funeral services for Mrs. Keavney will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at 9:30 am from the Casey-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 1581 East Main Street, Waterbury to SS. Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Road, Waterbury, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4 - 7pm. Memorial donations in Mrs. Keavney's memory may be made to Waterbury Day Nursery, 74 Buckingham Street, Waterbury.
