Proud of his Irish Heritage

WATERBURY - Patrick "Bob" O'Rourke, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the widower of Carol (Kasidas) O'Rourke, to whom he was married for 62 years.

Bob was born December 19, 1933, in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Michael and Mary "Molly" (McKenna) O'Rourke. Bob attended Leavenworth High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War Conflict. Bob spent 42 years as a loyal employee of Pratt and Whitney as a machinist. He was a lifelong member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was extremely proud of both his Irish heritage and having grown up in the "Abrigator". Bob was so proud of being selected as the honorary Mayor of the Day on St. Patrick's Day for the City of Waterbury in 2013. He was a parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Church and was an avid New York Yankees fan and setback player. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy are his daughters, Susan Galpin of Oakville with whom he made his home, and Beverly Hulten and her husband, Scott, of Bristol, and his sons, Neil O'Rourke and his wife, Donna, of Oakville, and Robert and his wife, Pauline, of Naugatuck. Bob and Carol were blessed with 9 grandchildren, William Galpin, Jr. and his wife, Kyla, Sarah Conroy and her husband, Chad, Emily Galpin, Maegen Rix and her husband, Ryan, Patrick O'Rourke, Liam O'Rourke, Kara Iacoviello, Stacey Premus, and her husband, John, and Jennifer Casagrande and her husband, Ray, as well as 6 great-grandchildren, Jacob Galpin, Alison Conroy, Madeline Conroy, Gage Rohrer, Gatlin Galpin, and Greta Galpin. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and many friends. Patrick was predeceased by his son-in-law, William Galpin, Sr. as well as his siblings, Neil O'Rourke, Anna Tehan, John O'Rourke, Mae Spellman, and Renee Hockert.

Funeral Services for Mr. O'Rourke will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd., Waterbury, CT to Mary Mother of the Church Parish, Saints Peter and Paul Church to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury, CT. Relatives and friends may visit with Bob's family on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. To honor Bob's memory, donations to SS Peter & Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Road, Waterbury, CT 06705 would be greatly appreciated by his family. Until the greater Waterbury area reaches a 70% threshold of vaccinated population, those visiting the funeral home are requested to remain masked while inside or attending services.
