AT THE CASEY - O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - Waterbury CT - Patrick J. Shea Jr. age 89, died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Saint Mary's Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Faustina (Sullivan) Shea.

Patrick was born November 6, 1921 in Waterbury, the son of the late Patrick J. Sr. and Margaret (Griffin) Shea. He was a graduate of Crosby High School, Perry School of Business and Niagara University. Patrick proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during WWII. Pat was a longtime employee of Scovill Mfg., Metal Division where he met his wife and they worked together there for many years. He was a member of the VFW Post 201 and the Waterbury Elks Lodge #265 B.P.O.E. Pat was an avid bowler at both the K of C and Wolcott Lanes and loved to golf. One of Pat's favorite pastimes were his many years coaching Lil Fellas Baseball and Basketball were he was able to mentor and guide so many neighborhood kids. Pat and his family loved vacationing at Cape Cod and he was an avid Boston Red Sox and UConn fan. Pat was a longtime parishioner and usher at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Pat was a warm and friendly man, always willing to stop and chat and leave you both with a smile.

Besides his loving wife, he leaves a son Patrick J. Shea III and his wife Linda of Naugatuck, a sister, Mary Shea of Naugatuck and a sister in law Mary Shea. He was predeceased by a brother Jeremiah Shea and two sisters, Margaret Shea and Catherine Daly.

Patrick's family would like to thank Dr. Edmund Quinn and the staff at Saint Mary's Hospital CCU especially Bill Dawe RN, for the personal and loving attention and care they provided to both Pat and his family during his recent illness.

Funeral Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St. Waterbury CT to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 8 to 9:15.
