Devoted to his family and faith
MILFORD – It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of Paul B. Lauer Sr, age 85, of Milford, announces his unexpected passing on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024, at Milford Heath Care Center after a brief illness. He was the husband of Heather (Sweet) Lauer.
Paul was born January 12, 1939, in Bridgeport, CT, the son of the late Paul and Ruth (Scully) Lauer. He was a graduate of Fairfield Preparatory School and enlisted with the US Air Force, where he proudly served his country before being honorably discharged. After his service with the Air Force, Paul continued his studies earning his MBA from the University of New Haven and a master’s degree in religious studies from Sacred Heart University. Paul spent over 40 years working for the former Bryant Electric Company, where he held various positions, including an accountant and retiring as a Marketing Manager. Paul was proud of his Irish heritage but, most importantly, was a man of profound faith. There was nothing more important to Paul than his family and his faith. He was active in many religious organizations, including the Knights of Columbus Council 47, where he served as a fourth-degree Knight and held various positions within the council. Paul was ordained as a catholic deacon in 1980 and served as a deacon for various parishes throughout the Hartford Archdioceses until his retirement. He also served as a Chaplin at the West Haven VA Hospital and Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. Our family thanks you, Dad, for every prayer you uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for thousands of hugs you shared with us, and the unending love you instilled in all of us.
Left to honor his memory and cherish his legacy besides his wife Heather of 60 years, Paul leaves his children Paul B. Lauer Jr and his partner Tanya of Port St Lucie, FL, Richard Lauer and his wife, Denise of Seymour, Daniel Lauer and his wife, Shelley of Oakville, Bill Lauer and his wife Jessica of Monroe and his daughter Nicole Dlugas and her husband, Bill of Shelton. Paul and Heather were blessed with 11 grandchildren Carol Anne, Zachary (Josh), Kaitlyn (Chris), Sarah, Garrett, Giana, Gavin, Kolton, Madison, Logan, and Emersen; and 1 great- grandchild Declan.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024, at 10:00 am at Precious Blood Parish, Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 70 Gulf St., Milford, CT. Burial will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford, with full military honors. There are no calling hours. Those planning to attend the services are asked to meet directly at the church.
