WATERBURY – Pedro E. Marrero-Ramos, age 80 of Waterbury, formerly of Jayuya, Puerto Rico passed away peacefully on January 26, 2023, at the Vitas In-Patient Unit of Saint Mary’s Hospital after an extended illness.
Pedro was born November 17th, 1942, in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Emilio Marrero-Cortez and Georgina Ramos-Torres de Marrero. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and loved to go fishing and play the guitar, and was an avid domino player. Pedro spent most of his life in Puerto Rico until being displaced from his home due to the effects of Hurricane Maria in 2017 when he relocated to Waterbury, and made his home with his daughter.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy are his daughter, Soraya Marrero of Waterbury, with whom he made his home, his twin brother, Wilfredo Marrero-Ramos and his wife, Miriam of Puerto Rico, his grandchildren: Victor Cuevas Jr; Christian M. Cuevas, and Brendon M. Cuevas, all of Waterbury; Javier Velez-Marrero, of San Antonio, TX and a great-grandson, Christian J. Cuevas as well as his niece and three nephews from Puerto Rico. He was predeceased by his daughter, CPO Dabet Marrero-Velez.
All services for Mr. Marrero will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
