Waterbury ?" Peter Perugini, age 98, of East Main St., Waterbury, died Friday, January 1, 2010 at Saint Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Mary A. (Fusco) Perugini.
Mr. Perugini was born October 6th 1911, in Pontelandolfo, Italy, son of the late Frank and Victoria (D'Occhio) Perugini. He was educated in Italy and served in the Italian Army prior to coming to the United States in 1934 at the age of 22. He began working in the family business as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Colonial Sand and Gravel, which was founded by his father Frank. He served in the US Army during WWII for three years, and was discharged as a Corporal. Upon returning from the war, he continued working in the family business and when his father passed, he and his brother William became co-owners of the business. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His family will always remember his sense of humor and generosity. He was parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Church.
Besides his devoted wife of 63 years, Peter is survived by his four children; Louis Perugini and his wife Marilee of Waterbury, Victor Perugini and his wife Maureen of Wolcott, Francis Perugini and his wife Kristine, of Prospect, and Nancy Perugini Magdalenski and her husband Joseph of Bristol, his grandchildren David, Lisa, Robert, and Laura Perugini, and Christopher Magdalenski, his step grandchild Michael LaPointe, his great grandchildren, Michael, Anthony, and Rylee Perugini as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother William Perugini and his sister Concetta Albini.
Funeral services for Mr. Perugini will be held on Monday, January 4th, 2010 at 10:00am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St Waterbury to SS Peter & Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.
