Devoted to his family and those in need
WATERBURY – Mr. Peter A. Stengel, age 62, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
Peter was born on September 1, 1962, in Waterbury, the son of Mary (Peregrin) and the late Arthur Stengel. Peter graduated from Oliver Wolcott Technical High School and worked for many years as a truck driver. He was the perfect model of a “tinkerer”. Always working with his hands making crafts including leather key chains, walking sticks and other treasures. What gave him even more joy, was gifting these special treasures to those less fortunate. That act of giving provided him great pride and joy. Peter was a Giant of everything good, humility, integrity, generosity but was a quiet man with a great, big, warm heart. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to honor his memory, besides his devoted mother, are his brothers, Michael Stengel and his wife Lisa of Thomaston, Thomas and his wife Alice of West Newbury, MA, and Matthew and his wife Gloria of Menifee, CA, and his sister, Kelly Stengel of Waterbury, and several nieces and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Stengel will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St. Waterbury, to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St, Waterbury, to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with the Stengel family on Wednesday morning from 8:30 until the procession leaves for church at 9:30 a.m. Loving kindness is always welcome, and it only takes a moment to offer a message of condolence, words of comfort, or share a memory with the family and friends of someone important to you.
